Welcome to Matava!
Fiji's fourth largest island, Kadavu is situated 100km south of the main island Viti Levu is one of the few remaining undeveloped islands in Fiji today. Having maintained its strong cultural values the general population leads fairly subsistent lifestyles in sleepy coastal villages dwarfed by mountainous jungles and waterfalls plummeting from the hilltops. The islands deeply indented bays, fringed by coral reefs and mangrove forest provide habitat to a host of birds including the endemic Kadavu musk parrot.
Forest openings reveal lizards basking on rocks, and butterflies spiraling skyward in a lazy dance. Matava caters to a maximum of only 22 guests in lush tropical surrounding ensuring a private haven away form the hustle and bustle of crowds. Traditional thatched Fijian 'bures' with polished timber floors, louvre windows, timber four poster beds and private decks are nestled in the rainforest to offer privacy, comfort and superb ocean views.

Built in the traditional thatched Fijian style and finely finished with polished mahogany timber floors, large airy louvre windows, King Size timber four poster beds and private decks.The expansive full length picture windows openning onto your private deck with views across the ocean. The Honeymoon Bures are each nestled in their own nook in the rainforest to offer privacy, comfort and superb ocean views. Surrounded in beautiful tropical gardens and immersed in lush rainforest the Honeymoon Bures are a true heaven of privacy within the beauty of Fiji's natural environment.
MEALS AND DINNING!
Meals are offered as a package; comprising a continental style breakfast, lunch, and a three – course dinner extravaganza. Our friendly Fijian staff will put a smile on your face and make sure you will love the food as much as they love preparing it for you.
Local seasonal delicacies are always found in the menu as well as the days fresh produce, which incorporates locally grown organic tropical fruit and vegetables, home style freshly baked breads and muffins and freshly caught seafood like tuna, trevally, lobster and walu (Spanish mackeral).
Scrumptious lovo feasts, a traditional Fijian meal cooked over hot stones in the ground, are held once a week, usually accompanied by a kava session. We cater for vegetarians and those with special dietary requirements.

A remote white sandy beach overlooked by rainforest covered hills, waving coconut palms and views out over coral lagoons and the Great Astrolabe barrier reef.
We only cater to small exclusive wedding parties and every wedding is tailored around your wishes. The bride and groom select the beach they wish to use and any other options desired such as traditional Fijian flower garlands or a local church choir.
