Raintree Lodge ! |
Raintree Lodge is located right on Princes Road, Colo-i-Suva (pronounced Tholo-ee-Suva), opposite the Police Post and next to the Forest Park and the Forestry Department.
Princes Road is the scenic alternative route between Nausori Airport and Suva. Raintree Lodge is approximately 15kms from the airport and 9kms from Suva. Trips to town are easy, either by taxi or local bus.
ACCOMMODATION !
Raintree Lodge can cater for up to 100 guests in a choice of excellent accommodation.
For backpackers there are three comfortable dorms, each equipped with toilets and hot water showers. As well as top quality bunk rooms, two of our dorms offer the option of private double and twin bedrooms.
We also have six detached bures each equipped with ensuite bathroom, queen size four poster bed, TV, DVD player, bar fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, mosquito nets and ceiling fans. They also have a private balcony overlooking one or other of our lakes. One has cooking and other kitchen facilities.
Our family bure sleeps up to seven people and features a fully equipped kitchen..

ACTIVITIES !
As well as our swimming pool, guests have the option of a dip in the larger of our two lakes. It's fed by natural springs, and having started life as a quarry, is extremely deep. As you'll see from our lakeside restaurant verandah, it's also teeming with tilapia and grass carp – if fishing takes your fancy ask at reception for the loan of a hand line. Or how about a bit of boating? Our hand-carved twin-hull canoe 'Raintree Logs' is available to house guests at no charge. So too is 'Bottles Up', Fiji's first boat made from recycled plastic bottles – it's Raintree's own creation.
Raintree is especially well situated for bush walking and internationally-acclaimed bird watching. While we strongly encourage an excursion into the local Colo-i-Suva Forest Park, many of the bird species, including raucous parrots and the intriguing Barking Pigeon, can be seen and heard within the property. Sit quietly almost anywhere at Raintree and you should spot honey-eaters and other small birds at quite close quarters. As well as bird life the Forest Park offers waterfalls and natural swimming holes to cool off in. You might like to take a picnic lunch from Raintree's kitchen and make a day of it.
DINING !
The Raintree Restaurant and Bar is modelled and decorated along the lines of a traditional chiefly bure, and is one of the finest examples of this style of architecture anywhere in Fiji. Together with its lakeside verandah and outdoor cafe it seats up to 130 people.
We welcome both house guests and the general public, opening for breakfast at 7.00am daily. Our chefs are highly versatile, and as well as a la carte meals there are always blackboard specials. Be sure to sample some of Raintree's local Fijian recipes.
We are fully licensed, with a good selection of well-priced wines, spirits, liqueurs and beers and happy hour prices from 5pm to 7pm nightly.
